Perrin Woodworking

We are gearing up for our next episode of Fix it and Finish it airing November 5, 2015.  One of the stars of two of our episodes is Perrin Woodworking.  Every city we go to we look for subs that we would use on any of our design projects, people that work the way we do and have a beautiful product.  I first spoke to Dan Perrin when he was on his way back from Atlanta installing pieces in a restaurant they we were working on.  I had already seen his website and was blown away and thought for sure he would be too busy to help us.

Most people I reach out to are hesitant when I first call them and think I am little crazy when I ask them to be apart of a one day project that in real life time takes months.  Dan wanted to help us in any way he could and told me to send him images.  Over the next few days I sent Dan a few rough sketches and we had a couple of calls.  I never know if people understand "Ryland's Language" until we get into the drawing phase of a project- especially one that has all been communicated through emails, texts and phone calls.  Not only did Dan translate my vision into reality he also added and subtracted his vision into the perfect end result.

When I arrived in Charleston my first stop was Perrin Woodworking.  I could stand and stare for hours watching their crew - true artisans.  They took my ideas and translated them into a beautiful and functional work space.  You always hope that things look as good as you have envisioned them and when they actually look better, you know you are working with an artist.

Needless to say we will forever be grateful to Perrin Woodworking.  We know we will be working with them on many projects in the future.  Their level of professionalism and incredible work makes them a standout in this industry!  Tune in to see what they helped us create next week.

Here a few shots of their work you do not want to miss....

Our "Backyard Karaoke Party" Episode on Fix it and Finish it

Salins Group and Autrey Kemp Nurseries and Gardens  hard at work to get our custom designed pergola, fire pit and landscaping done in one day!

We loved adding to the magic by using garden obelisk by Eastover Collection….

Fix it and Finish it Episode: More Storage Please

On our "More Storeage Please" Episode of Fix it and Finish it with Antonio Sabato Jr we help a family revamp their family room/playroom.  This was a tough space because it is a combination family room/play room with absolutely no storage.  For a family with young children storage is a must!

We pulled out the OLD carpet and linoleum flooring and replaced it with beautiful new hardwood floors.  We then painted all the walls a beautiful slate blue and added wallpaper in the playroom with a dark navy paint below the chair rail to anchor the pattern.

We added custom window seats in the family room and playroom to add more seating and hidden storeage.

We used a stain resistant carpet for the heavy traffic the family room receives and to make it more attractive we notched out the corners to give the carpet some interest in the room.

The desk we chose for Jill has enough surface area on top for her to do her DIY projects but small enough to not be too cumbersome in the room.

We made the playroom room "fun" but sophisticated so it wasn't an eye sore from the family room.

John Morris' original spirographs add the perfect punch of color and guess what?  They will soon be available for sale on our webstore!

Don't miss our next episode of Fix it and Finish it 4/27 where we take an useable sunroom and make it the go to room in the family's house!

Our "Garage Gym" Episode of Fix it and Finish it

A few before and after shots from our "Garage Gym" episode where we take a garage that has been basically a storage unit and turn it into the ultimate gym!

We loved using Gladiator Garageworks cabinet system.  Not only do they add storage - they were the perfect feel for this motorcycle inspired gym!

Antonio has a special surprise for the Grant's….Panther player Roman Harper!

The Grant's crazy beautiful tattoos were the inspiration for our commissioned pieces by Michael Skylark!

Please Pardon the Mess…We are Working on it

Our AMAZING team is working so hard to iron out all of the kinks of our new site and doing a great job managing that and dealing with me!  This the third website I have had since I started my business over nine years ago and every time you think it is going to be easy and fast because we have done them before.  But then we begin and it is starting and stopping, analyzing and panicking, critiquing and panicking, re-doing and going back to the beginning, panicking and  yadda yadda yadda - you get the idea.  I finally had the realization that it will ALWAYS be like this because it will ALWAYS involve me and I will ALWAYS want it to be perfect (and if I don't that will be a sign)!  I tend to be over critical of my work and can't settle for anything less than perfect and for the first time in my life I am OK with that.  It should be perfect, it should be right and it should be a site I want to spend hours scrolling through- because I know what our clients like.  So bear with us.  We will be complete and perfect in no time at all.

Have a fabulous weekend!
