Banner Photography

So if you don't know who Banner Adams is you need to.  She is not only a beautiful human being inside and out, she is a phenomenal nationally known photographer on the rise.

Banner's ability to show the true essence of a person on camera is a gift.....

Many people say "Oh photographers are as good as the equipment they use".  To capture the image of a person showing who they really are to the camera is a rare talent.  After every shoot I am totally blown away.  She nails it every time.  Her photographs are like songs that immediately make you feel a memory, she is a true artist.

Banner took this picture with a temporary camera phone (it was not an iphone!) She had two coffee cups in her hands, another cell phone and had had over 30 people take over her house for basically 24 hours to shoot a television show....and in 3 seconds took this picture.

Her ability to shift from quiet observation to enthusiastic play and thoughtful conversation helps her capture her subjects’ personalities with a remarkable eye for detail, mood and moment. She also believes creating art for the home goes well beyond unique and beautiful images. She provides design consultations for each client.

Being a designer I sometimes (ok I will honest- ALL THE TIME) want to be involved in every aspect of the process.  After using Banner for over seven years I trust her to make all of the creative decisions when it comes to my images.  When we have a meeting after a photo shoot her selections are always the best ones.  Because I make so many decisions everyday for others, it is such a joy to be able to have someone know what I like and handle everything from start to finish!

Banner Photography is based Charleston, SC.  More of her beautiful work can be seen on her website  and make sure you like her Facebook Page here!

Dwell Construction

On tomorrow's episode of Fix it and Finish it  Clinton Beck and his crew from Dwell Studio take a ghastly garage and turn it into a super cool boys hangout space!

Clinton and his team took a space that was basically being used as a storage unit and turned it into a the perfect hang out space with a Low Country feel.

We took out all of the existing walls and and replaced them with Hardiplank.  Clinton used a batten and board pattern to give the space a Low Country look....and the end result is PERFECTION!

Here a few shots from some of Dwell Construction's beautiful projects in the Charleston, SC area!

Thank you Dwell Construction for your time and talent!

Charleston Heart Pine

One of the elements of our "Pretty in Pictures" Fix it and Finish it Episode, that made a huge impact on the space, was the flooring by Charleston Heart Pine.  The Heart Pine makes the space now feel warm and inviting.  By eliminating the cement the space now looks like a professional office and not a make-shift room in a garage.

It was very important to the home owner to use local products, so we loved the fact that all of the wood flooring used was from trees grown in South Carolina.   Charleston Heart Pine purchases only the finest old growth long leaf pine available. This timber is cut and logged by  company’s crew, processed into lumber, and marketed from our mill site in Jamestown, South Carolina.  Each board is trimmed by hand to insure the highest possible quality.

Thank you again to Charleston Heat Pine for providing the flooring and to Elliott Brothers  for installing them.

Perrin Woodworking

We are gearing up for our next episode of Fix it and Finish it airing November 5, 2015.  One of the stars of two of our episodes is Perrin Woodworking.  Every city we go to we look for subs that we would use on any of our design projects, people that work the way we do and have a beautiful product.  I first spoke to Dan Perrin when he was on his way back from Atlanta installing pieces in a restaurant they we were working on.  I had already seen his website and was blown away and thought for sure he would be too busy to help us.

Most people I reach out to are hesitant when I first call them and think I am little crazy when I ask them to be apart of a one day project that in real life time takes months.  Dan wanted to help us in any way he could and told me to send him images.  Over the next few days I sent Dan a few rough sketches and we had a couple of calls.  I never know if people understand "Ryland's Language" until we get into the drawing phase of a project- especially one that has all been communicated through emails, texts and phone calls.  Not only did Dan translate my vision into reality he also added and subtracted his vision into the perfect end result.

When I arrived in Charleston my first stop was Perrin Woodworking.  I could stand and stare for hours watching their crew - true artisans.  They took my ideas and translated them into a beautiful and functional work space.  You always hope that things look as good as you have envisioned them and when they actually look better, you know you are working with an artist.

Needless to say we will forever be grateful to Perrin Woodworking.  We know we will be working with them on many projects in the future.  Their level of professionalism and incredible work makes them a standout in this industry!  Tune in to see what they helped us create next week.

Here a few shots of their work you do not want to miss....
